***Endangered Species Act misused again, this time in Illinois
Add another page to the long and ugly history of obstructionist Endangered Species Act (ESA) litigation. Last month, the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) filed a lawsuit to halt the construction of a critical bridge in the Chicago area. Despite numerous rulings by Illinois state agencies and courtsto the contrary, the suit claims the bridge will harm the rusty patched bumble-bee. Ironically, the real victimis the communitythey have chosen to target.Remember the Spayed Toad Toad, Spotted Owl, Snail Darter and Prairie Dog. They were all used to close areas and close down businesses and take private property.

President Trump will visit Utah next Monday 12/04/2017 to announce the changes to Monuments Escalante and Bears Ears. Rumor has it that the Paria Canyon Road has been mentioned by name and we at UAR (U4WDA/ALAA/RMFMS) are hopeful that the road will be re-opened because we and others have been trying to re-open it since 2007. UPDATE: It has happened and we are now waiting to find out what it means. https://www.whitehouse.gov/
Had a meeting with Aaron Curtis, branch chief for the BLM’s Outdoor and Heritage Resources, on Monday 11/03/2017 with Ron Tolman of U4WDA. It was basically about setting the ground rules for future meetings and requests to keep roads and rock collecting sites open in Utah. The BLM is scheduled to work on the South East portion of the state this coming year.
