Built to Unite Utah's 4-Wheel Drive Community
U4WDA's community history dates to 1978, when Utah 4x4 clubs and enthusiasts organized around public-land access and the need for a united statewide voice.
Today, U4WDA is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to protecting public-land access through education and stewardship. Its work connects responsible motorized users with land-use information, volunteer service, clubs, and opportunities to participate constructively.
At its core, U4WDA encourages people to enjoy Utah's roads and trails responsibly, care for public lands, and help protect access for future generations.
A Longstanding Commitment to Keeping Trails Open
U4WDA was formed around a simple but urgent idea: responsible users need to be organized if they want to protect access to public roads and trails.
That same idea still drives the association today. Trails stay open when users stay informed, participate respectfully, volunteer on the ground, and show land managers that the 4x4 community is committed to stewardship.
Utah Clubs Come Together
U4WDA was founded to unite Utah's 4-wheel drive clubs and enthusiasts around public-land access concerns and responsible recreation.
Education & Service in Action
U4WDA published land-use education through Compass magazine and participated in public-land cleanups, trail work, fencing, and National Public Lands Day projects.
Federal Tax-Exempt Recognition
The current organization received IRS recognition as a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit in November 2014.
